What do I need to be aware of when running an explosion-proof motor?
 
 
In order to ensure the safe operation of explosion-proof motors, daily supervision and protection work is very important. The operating conditions of explosion-protected motors are characterised by meter indications, temperature fluctuations and dynamic changes, so that abnormal conditions can be detected in time as long as supervision is observed. In addition to the rules of supervision, protection projects, here focus on the following points.
 
(1) explosion-proof motor current, voltage abnormalities
During normal operation, the current should not exceed the promised value. Usually explosion-proof motor only in a phase installed ammeter, for low-voltage explosion-proof motor, if necessary, available clamp-on ammeter separately measured three-phase current. The asymmetry of the current is promised to be 10%. To check the voltage, the busbar voltmeter connected to the explosion-protected motor is usually used to monitor it. The voltage can vary within a range of -5% to 10% of the additional voltage, and the voltage asymmetry is promised to be 5%.
 
(2) explosion-proof motor temperature is too high
In addition to the explosion-proof motor itself has a fault such as winding short circuit, iron chip short circuit, etc. may lead to some high temperature, because the load is too large, poor ventilation, high ambient temperature factors, will also lead to explosion-proof motor some temperature increase. The temperature of the winding can be determined by resistance temperature measurement or by using thermocouples pre-buried when the explosion-proof motor is made. The temperature of the iron core, bearings and slip rings can be measured with an alcohol thermometer. When necessary for operation, an alcohol thermometer can be attached to the shell of the explosion-proof motor to monitor the temperature, but the control temperature should be lower than the promised value of the temperature of the explosion-proof motor. For the temperature rise of the promised value, should refer to the relevant regulations or manufacturers rules.
 
(3) explosion-proof motor operation with noise, vibration, odor
When the explosion-proof motor is working normally, the sound should be uniform and without noise. Vibration should be manipulated according to the explosion-proof motor speed within the promised value of the rules of the regulations. Where hand contact with the bearing parts feel numb, clarify the vibration has been very strong, should be further measured by vibration table. If the explosion-proof motor near a burnt smell or smoke, it should immediately identify the factors, adopt measures.
 
(4) explosion-proof motor bearing operating conditions
The main thing is to pay attention to the smooth condition of the bearings, the temperature is not too high, whether there are noises. Large explosion-proof motors should pay special attention to the normal operation of the smooth oil system and cooling water system.
 
(5) explosion-proof motor brush state
Wire-wound explosion-proof motors should also pay attention to the running condition of the brushes on the slip ring.
