IEC is the standard motor in Europe
The International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) was established in 1906 and has a history of 109 years until 2015. It is the earliest international electrotechnical standardization agency in the world, responsible for international standardization in the fields of electrical engineering and electronic engineering. The headquarters of the International Electrotechnical Commission was originally located in London, but moved to its current headquarters in Geneva in 1948. At the 6 international electrotechnical conferences held from 1887 to 1900, the participating experts agreed that it is necessary to establish a permanent international electrotechnical standardization organization to solve the problems of electrical safety and electrical product standardization. In 1904, the International Electrotechnical Conference held in St. Louis, USA, passed a resolution on the establishment of a permanent institution. In June 1906, representatives of 13 countries met in London, drafted IEC regulations and rules of procedure, and formally established the International Electrotechnical Commission. In 1947 it was incorporated into the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) as an electrotechnical division, and in 1976 it was spun off from ISO. The purpose is to promote international cooperation on all issues related to electrotechnical standardization in the fields of electrotechnical, electronic and related technologies, such as conformity assessment of standards. The objectives of the committee are: to effectively meet the needs of the global market; to ensure the priority and maximum use of its standards and conformity assessment schemes worldwide; to assess and improve the quality of products and services covered by its standards; to provide for the common use of complex systems Create the conditions; increase the effectiveness of the industrialization process; improve human health and safety; protect the environment.
NEMA motors are the American standard.
NEMA was established in 1926. The first electronic manufacturing industry association in the United States was established in 1905, named as the Electronic Manufacturers Alliance (Electrical Manufacturers Alliance: EMA), and soon changed its name to the Electrical Manufacturers Club (Electrical Manufacturers Club: EMC), 1908 American motor manufacturers The American Association of Electric Motor Manufacturers: AAEMM was established, and in 1919 it was renamed the Electric Power Club (Electric Power Club: EPC). The three organizations joined together to form the Electrical Manufacturers Council (EMC).
