Motor shaft broken
A motor used by a customer has a shaft broken, and the service staff of the motor manufacturer and the customer are in a dispute due to liability issues. The leader of the motor company speaks, first help the customer to replace the new machine, and then discuss the liability issue. Not to mention the responsibility attribution, first of all, I would like to praise the urgent actions of the leaders of the electrical machinery enterprises.
The function of the motor is to convert electrical energy into mechanical energy. During the energy conversion process, a pulley or coupling is installed on the output shaft, and then the belt or coupling is used to transmit torque to drive the equipment to operate and perform work.
Shaft broken faults occur from time to time during the use of the motor, and the broken positions are basically concentrated at the root of the shaft extension, the root of the bearing position, and the web end of the web shaft. Different locations and different breakage circuits have different reasons.
The motor is not concentric with the device being dragged, causing the motor to bear excessive radial load, which eventually leads to metal fatigue. When the radial load on the motor shaft extension end is too large, the motor shaft will be bent and deformed in the radial direction. When the motor rotates, the shaft is deformed by torsion in all directions, which will eventually cause the motor shaft to break. The fracture location is generally close to the bearing.
-For motors connected by belt pulleys, when some customers are equipped with belt pulleys for the output shaft of the motor, because the pulley is too heavy or the belt is installed too tight, the motor output shaft will continue to be subjected to variable stress during the operation of the motor. This stress The maximum bending moment generated on the shaft is near the bearing fulcrum of the output shaft. Repeated impacts cause fatigue, causing the shaft to gradually crack and eventually break completely.
-If the motor is not firmly fixed, such as running on the frame, the entire foundation is unstable and shakes during operation, resulting in unstable tension of the motor belt, and sometimes high tension can cause damage to the shaft.
-This problem mostly occurs in the case of large-size motor web shafts. Most of the locations are concentrated at the position where the end of the web is combined with the main shaft. The lines of the shaft fracture are irregular, and most of the early failures of the motor appear to be sweeping. It can only be discovered during the later inspection process.
