During the shutdown period of the motor, on the one hand, the moisture in the environment will invade the inner cavity of the motor, and condensation will continue to accumulate on the surface of the winding; on the other hand, after the motor is shut down, the air in the inner cavity turns from hot to cold, and the moisture in the air will condense on the surface of the winding. At the same time, due to the expansion of air (when running) and contraction (when shut down), the cold air from the outside is drawn into the inner cavity of the motor. When the winding gradually cools (in the process of stabilizing the cold state after shutdown), the moisture in the cold air continues to condense on the winding. Therefore, after a long shutdown period, the winding and insulation will become damp, and direct power-on operation may cause electrical breakdown. In view of the above reasons, large and medium-sized motors are equipped with winding moisture-proof heating devices during production, and the motor windings and inner cavity air are heated and dehumidified before the motor is turned on.
How to correctly select, install and use moisture-proof heating devices? The heating power of moisture-proof heating devices is determined according to the volume of the motor cavity space and the size of the motor. The power supply voltage and phase number are proposed by the customer or clearly specified in the additional technical agreement of the order contract.
The moisture-proof heating device can be installed at the end of the winding (moisture-proof heating belt), the inner cavity side of the end cover (moisture-proof heating tube), the inner cavity space somewhere in the machine base (such as the appropriate position below the side between the stator core and the machine base of the box-type high-voltage motor, the heating plate), or other appropriate spaces in the casing (with a screw-type heating rod, which passes through the screw hole on the machine base and extends into the inner cavity, so it is also called a space heater)
The principle of installation selection is: no damage to the winding during heating, quick removal of condensation on the winding and moisture in the inner cavity, so that the insulation resistance of the winding reaches the factory test state. When in use, the power supply should be connected to the installed moisture-proof heating device before the winding is powered on. After about 15 minutes, the moisture-proof heating device is powered off, the motor is powered on, and the motor starts to operate normally.
