The difference between pt100 and PTC
source:未知 time:2025-01-20 11:20nbsp; click:
Working principle:
PT100: PT100 is a temperature sensor based on the property that the resistance of platinum changes with temperature. The resistance of PT100 is 100Ω at 0°C, and the resistance increases as the temperature rises. This sensor has a relatively linear temperature-resistance relationship, so it can measure temperature more accurately.
PTC: PTC refers to a positive temperature coefficient material, whose resistance increases with increasing temperature. The characteristic of PTC material is that the higher the temperature, the greater its resistance, and it is usually used in overtemperature protection or self-limiting temperature elements.
Use:
PT100: PT100 is widely used in industrial temperature measurement, laboratory environment monitoring and other occasions that require high accuracy and stability. It has high accuracy and good linearity, and is suitable for measurement in various temperature ranges.
PTC: PTC is usually used in applications such as current protection and overheat protection. For example, PTC is often used as an overheat protection element for electrical equipment, or as a self-limiting temperature element in some heating elements.
Temperature range:
PT100: PT100 has a wide temperature measurement range, from -200°C to 850°C, depending on the type of platinum material used.
PTC: PTC materials usually have a narrow temperature range and are generally used in the medium and low temperature range, depending on the characteristics of the material.
Linearity and accuracy:
PT100: has high accuracy and linearity, suitable for applications that require accurate temperature measurement.
PTC: Although the resistance of PTC changes with temperature, the change is not completely linear, and it is usually used for temperature protection rather than accurate measurement.
In general, PT100 is suitable for high-precision temperature measurement, while PTC is mainly used for temperature protection and self-limiting temperature control.
