Working principle and method of motor braking

1. Basic Principle of Motor Braking
Motor braking is to use electricity to control the rotation of the motor, so that it generates braking force and realizes the braking of mechanical movement. This braking method mainly achieves the purpose of braking by reducing the speed of the motor, so that the mechanical movement gradually stops. The basic principle of motor braking is similar to the principle of motor operation, both of which control the motion state of the motor through electricity.
2. Working Principle of Motor Braking
The working principle of motor braking is to convert the rotational energy of the motor into braking energy, and convert the rotational motion of the motor into braking force through the brake. The motor brake usually consists of three parts: motor, brake and controller.
The motor part is the core component of the motor brake, which is mainly responsible for generating rotational energy. When the motor stops working, its rotational energy will be converted into braking energy, thereby achieving the purpose of braking. The brake part of the motor brake is usually composed of an electromagnet. When current passes through the electromagnet, the brake will generate magnetic force, converting the rotational motion of the motor into braking force.
The controller part is the control center of the motor brake, which achieves the purpose of braking by controlling the speed of the motor. When braking is required, the controller will send a stop command to the motor. After the motor stops rotating, the brake converts the rotational energy of the motor into braking energy to achieve braking of mechanical movement.
3. Working method of motor braking
The working method of motor braking is usually divided into two types, one is direct braking and the other is indirect braking.
Direct braking is to use the brake to directly brake the motor to generate braking force. Direct braking usually uses electromagnet braking or hydraulic braking, which can achieve motor braking through current or hydraulic control. The advantages of direct braking are large braking force and good braking effect, which is suitable for some occasions that require large braking force.
Indirect braking is to achieve braking by controlling the current or voltage of the motor. It usually uses back electromotive force braking or current braking. Back electromotive force braking is to brake the motor by using the back electromotive force of the motor. It can achieve braking by changing the current direction of the motor. Current braking is to achieve braking by changing the current size of the motor. It can achieve braking by changing the voltage or resistance of the motor.
4. Application of motor braking
The application range of motor brake is very wide. It is widely used in industry, transportation, construction and other fields. In the industrial field, motor brakes are usually used for braking various mechanical equipment, such as machine tools, cranes, conveyors, etc. In the transportation field, motor brakes are usually used for braking vehicles such as cars, trains, and ships. In the construction field, motor brakes are usually used for braking equipment such as elevators and escalators.
Motor brakes are a common mechatronics product that achieves braking of mechanical motion through electric control. This article introduces the working principle and method of motor brakes in detail, hoping to help readers better understand and use this technology. In practical applications, it is necessary to select appropriate braking methods and control methods according to specific circumstances to achieve the best braking effect.
