Motor winding varnishing and VPI process

Winding varnishing is an important and key process in motor manufacturing. The heat resistance and thermal conductivity of winding insulation can be improved by varnishing. Before varnishing, the gaps in the winding insulation are filled with air, and the thermal conductivity is poor. After varnishing, the insulating varnish fills all the gaps in the winding insulation, and the thermal conductivity is greatly enhanced. After the paint film is formed, it can reduce contact with air, delay oxidation, and improve heat resistance.
The electrical properties of winding insulation can also be improved by dipping. After dipping, the gaps between the winding turns, phases and insulation layers, and inside the insulation material are filled with insulating paint, which basically eliminates bubbles and forms solid insulation with strong pressure resistance, thereby improving the electrical properties of winding insulation.
After the winding is dipped in paint, the moisture resistance and chemical stability of the winding insulation can also be improved. The winding insulation treated with special dipping paint also has the ability to prevent dew, corona, corrosion and oil pollution. Dipping paint can also improve the mechanical strength of the winding. After dipping, the wires of the winding are bonded into a solid whole, thereby strengthening the mechanical strength of the winding and reducing the loosening and wear of the insulation caused by electromagnetic force, vibration and thermal expansion and contraction.
At present, the dipping process that can achieve the best quality in the motor industry is VPI vacuum pressure dipping. VPI is the abbreviation of vacuum pressure impregnation process, namely Vacuum Pressure Impregnating. VPI vacuum pressure impregnation equipment is an important process equipment in the production process of electrical appliances and electrical materials such as high-voltage motors, transformers, power capacitors and paper-insulated high-voltage power cables. After VPI process treatment, the insulation performance is good, the temperature rise is reduced, the efficiency is improved, the mechanical strength is increased, the loosening phenomenon during operation is solved, and insulation failures such as short circuits are prevented. The moisture-proof ability is improved and the service life is extended. Its working principle is to pre-bake the workpiece to remove moisture and then cool it, place it in a vacuum environment, remove the air and volatiles inside the blank coil, rely on the gravity of the paint liquid in the vacuum and the capillary action of the coil, and use dry compressed air or inert gas to apply a certain pressure to the impregnation paint liquid after the vacuum is released, so that the paint liquid quickly penetrates and fills the inner layer of the insulation structure, so as to achieve the purpose of impregnation.
