How much do you know about explosion-proof CE certification?

For many common live products exported to the EU, we often only need to consider whether to comply with LVD, EMC and other directive standards, which are also the most common standards in CE certification. However, for some live products used in flammable and explosive environments, some companies that do not export frequently or do not handle customs clearance certifications may not be able to distinguish the difference between CE certification and ATEX certification, so they often do not know which certifications they should apply for. In fact, ATEX certification is also a type of CE certification. Due to the particularity of explosion-proof products themselves, although ATEX can also be regarded as a directive under CE certification, manufacturers will affix the ATEX mark to products that have passed the relevant standards of ATEX certification, and the product actually automatically complies with CE certification. Of course, if the product itself has related designs such as low voltage or electromagnetic compatibility, it is also necessary to comply with other directives under CE certification before the CE mark can be affixed.

Overview of the explosion-proof CE certification directive ATEX:
ATEX is named after the French word "ATmosphères EXplosibles". Manufacturers of equipment intended for use in potentially explosive environments can sell their explosion-proof equipment anywhere in Europe without considering the application of other requirements by applying the terms of the ATEX directive and affixing the CE mark. On March 23, 1994, the European Commission adopted the "Equipment and protective systems for potentially explosive atmospheres" (94/9/EC) directive. The new ATEX directive 2014/34/EU was issued in 2014 and will be enforced on April 20, 2016, with no transition period in between. This directive covers mines and non-mine equipment. Unlike previous directives, it includes mechanical equipment and electrical equipment, and extends potentially explosive environments to dust, flammable gases, flammable vapors and mists in the air. It specifies the application technical requirements, basic health and safety requirements for equipment intended for use in potentially explosive environments, and the conformity assessment procedures that must be adopted before the equipment is placed on the European market within its scope of use. Core requirements of ATEX explosion-proof directive:

Protect the safety and health of people, and in certain cases protect the health of livestock and property safety, especially to protect workers from the hazards caused by equipment and systems suitable for potentially explosive environments. ATEX certified product range:
ATEX certification applies to a particularly large range of equipment, generally including fixed offshore platforms, petrochemical plants, flour mills and other equipment suitable for places where potentially explosive environments may exist. ATEX certified electrical equipment:

Electrical equipment refers to equipment containing electronic components for generating, storing, distributing, converting electrical energy or control equipment that uses electrical energy as energy. ATEX certified non-electrical equipment:
Equipment with only mechanical movement, these moving parts will generate detonation sources (such as: hot surfaces, friction sparks, etc.) such as reduction gears, fans, compressors, brakes, mixers, non-electrical equipment is usually connected to electrical equipment to provide kinetic energy.
